Brian JeffreyBrian Jeffrey

Brian comes from a mid-western farming background having grown up in Janesville, Wisconsin.  He attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics.  He continued his education at UW Madison earning a Juris Doctorate there in 1970.

Following law school, Brian spent six years dedicating himself to the cause of equal justice for the poor.  During this time he participated in ground-breaking class action litigation benefiting the economically disadvantaged in Mississippi and in Wisconsin.  In 1974, drawn by the Rocky Mountains, he relocated to Colorado.  In Colorado, Brian continued his work in legal services for the poor with Colorado Rural Legal Services, as that organization’s Denver based support attorney, handling and advising on federal and appellate litigation brought by CRLS attorneys.

In 1976 he accepted a position at the University of Colorado Law School’s clinical program as an instructor, where he remained until 1978.  In 1978, he opened an office in Evergreen, CO where he has practiced law since that time.  Brian’s practice covers a wide range of civil matters, but tends to emphasize representation of small business, estate planning, and family law.  For over 25 years Brian has been AV- rated by Martindale-Hubbell. This is the highest peer-review rating awarded to practicing attorneys. Martindale-Hubbell has now added the accolade of “preeminent”.

Brian is presently a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Board of Governors, where he serves on its Nominating Committee. In 2010-2011, Brian was honored to serve as President of the Board of Trustees for the 1st Judicial District Bar Association, whose members include over 700 attorneys in Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. He is a long time member of the Colorado Bar Association and its subsections on Business and Family Law. Brian also was recently invited to become one of the Fellows of the CBA's charitable arm, the Colorado Bar Foundation. Invitations are based upon the Foundation's consideration of factors, such as "prominence, reputation and good standing in the legal community, outstanding contributions in their communities and contributions to advancing justice..."

In the past, Brian has also served his community as both a board member and officer for Mt. Evans Hospice/Home Health Care and Stingers Soccer Club.

Brian and his wife Julie married in 1978.  They have raised three children to adulthood—each a source of great pride, and are now blessed with four grandchildren.  They enjoy travel and a wide variety of sports and recreational activities.  A sports fan and participant, Brian enjoys golf, tennis, bicycling, snowshoeing and skiing.  He is certified as a SCUBA dive master.  When at home, he enjoys cooking and pouring wine for family and friends.
